Abstract

The objective of the work is to define the main types of port tugs, their methods of use and the main propulsion and government systems. Showing their differences, advantages and disadvantages in the maneuvers of the ship, emphasizing the identification of types of propulsion and lists for certain maneuvers. It also highlights the real and progressive growth of port operations due to the increased use of waterway transport making port tugs an essential factor for safety, proficiency and reduction of operating costs in restricted waters.
